Week 8! CSA

Posted 7/26/2012 10:19am by Geroge Zahradka.

Hello everyone! Well we are getting ourselves together after the storms and farm damage we have had these past few weeks. The electricity is fixed, the water is back on and now it's business as usual! The psat few weeks have been very trying for us and we could not have made it throughwithout the patience a d support of our CSA family.  Thank you all.

100 degree days aren't good for us people, but the do wonders for our heirloom tomatoes. As long as cold rain doesn't hit them when they are burning hot we are looking at some delicious treats this week! You can expect to see heirloom tomatoes in your share this week as well as yellow doll water melons! Yellow dolls are an heirloom water melonwith a yellow flesh. They are very sweet!

Meat/ we intended to have out meat pick up at the beginning of each month but the darn chickens just didn't seem to want to grow fast enough for us, so instead of pumping them full of hormones and artificial feed we just let them do their own natural thing. Therefore, instead of at the beginning of each month we will be delivering at the end of each month.

Today will be the second meat pick up of the CSA this year! If you have not recieved your first for whatever reason please let the CSA staff know and they will gladly double you up.

Thanks again to all of our mrmbers! Your desire to really become educated about the trials and tribulations of small farms means the world to us! Thanks from the bottom of our heart!!!
